Welcome to Haute-Vienne

Photographs of France abound, and you might wonder whether any more are needed. But most of the images we see are of famous places that have become both iconic and over-exposed. We certainly don't need any more pictures of the Tour Eiffel, or Mont St Michel, or the half bridge at Avignon, to take just three places at random.

This site has a different purpose. It provides a glimpse into one particular part of one region in France, and shows you places that you're unlikely to see anywhere else. Although most of the images come from the Haute-Vienne, I have included some from other adjoining départments. In these cases the départment is given in brackets next to the entry in the photo index.

It also provides a place for me to display my photography, and to share my love of this understated but beautiful part of rural France.
